Fraschetteria: Reviews & Ratings
Fraschetteria is a hidden gem in Rome — cozy, welcoming, and full of character. The pasta dishes (especially the carbonara and Cacio e Pepe) were superb — rich traditional flavors without being heavy or pretentious. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the vibe felt more “local trattoria” than tourist trap. Definitely worth a visit if you want genuine Roman food.
If you’re reading this review, it’s not by chance. You’re probably searching for the best restaurants in Rome — and if you hadn’t stumbled upon this review, you might never have found this place. Fraschetteria Roma isn’t easy to spot, and it’s not on a street you’d typically find yourself walking down. But trust me — you’re lucky you did. This tiny restaurant, with barely eight tables, served some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Every dish felt authentic and perfectly balanced, like it came straight from someone’s home kitchen …it might have. The flavors were rich but never heavy, the ingredients fresh, and the service warm and genuine. It’s the kind of experience that reminds you why you travel — to find places like this. No fancy décor, no gimmicks, just real Italian cooking from good people. Truly unexpected, and absolutely unforgettable.
Such a pleasant surprise for what we thought was a little hole in the wall! Great wine recommemdation from our server, cacio e pepe was delicious and the desserts were great (chocolate fondant cake and pistachio tiramisu - the best of my husband's life!). Lovely atmosphere and it felt like we had stumbled upon a real gem. I'd definitely recommend booking in advance but for us it was well worth the wait!
Stumbled across this basement restaurant, saw it had a good rating, thought we’d give it a try. When we got there, it must’ve just opened because it was empty. By the time we left, the line was up the steps out the door and down the street. The food was amazing!! The small staff was able to keep up with everybody and we didn’t feel ignored when a party of nine came in shortly after us. We had the prosciutto and bufala, pasta carbonara and chocolate soufflé with pistachios! Highly recommend!!!!
Delicious cacio e pepe and carbonara — both perfectly made and full of flavour. The atmosphere is cozy, great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Would recommend booking in advance to avoid missing out on a table, though they do accommodate walk-ins when possible. The pistachio tiramisu was sooo good!! We were in Rome for three nights and ate here twice — it's well worth it. Highly recommend!
Wow. Just wow. Small 18 seat restaurant in the basement that you’d never find without Google… but it should be front and centre on your list. It was so good that we ate here the next night. Our servers both nights were great, but the main feature here is the food. You can tell it’s all homemade and put together with passion and care. Absolutely delicious. Would make a reservation though as it is very small.
We have been coming here for the last 6 years. It is our favorite place in Rome to eat. Fabio and Valentina are amazing hosts and just wonderful people who really care about the guest’s satisfaction. The food is amazing as everyone else says! Out favorites are the Bruschette ciauscolo y Miele Al tartufco. For pastas the lasagne and gnocchi are amazing and the carbonara is the best we have eaten in Rome. For dessert do not pass up the pistachio tiramisu if it is available. I definitely recommend getting a reservation as soon as you know you are in Rome if not you may have a long wait. There may also be a Short wait if you have a reservation as they do not have set seating times but the atmosphere is so vibrant and the food so delicious that it is so worth the wait!
We visited Fraschetteria in Rome and honestly, it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in the city. We ordered the Lasagna al Ragù, Bresaola e Tartufo, Tagliatelle al Tartufo, and three glasses of red wine. Everything was amazing, but the truffle pasta was my absolute favourite — so flavourful and so satisfying. We also tried the pistachio tiramisu, and it was outstanding. Creamy, light, and the perfect finish to the meal. Even as a Korean, we found the taste incredibly good and comforting. The staff were also super kind, funny, and just lovely Italian guys who made the whole experience even better. I 1,000,000% recommend this place. You’ll love the atmosphere, the food, everything. I’ll definitely come back the next time I’m in Rome!

The menu shines brightest with classic Roman specialties like Spaghetti Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, and Amatriciana. Each plate strikes a perfect balance—comforting and robust but never overwhelming. Desserts here are not mere afterthoughts but masterpieces—particularly the Tiramisu Classico and the Tortino Cioccolato e Pistacchio. The pistachio tiramisu, creamy yet light, leaves a lasting impression, while the chocolate fondant cake melts decadently, embodying refined simplicity.
